Ever wandered your local record emporium and been frustrated at the lack of new music to spend your hard earned cash on? Do you cry, or even worse laugh, when that wonderful computer company sends you suggestions and alerts in order to help you fill up your hard drive? Is everything starting to sound the same to you...and not in a good way? If you answered yes to any of the above then you understand the thought behind five03.
The label sprang to life in early 2006 with the simple goal of putting out music that we like to listen to by bands and performers that we like to work with. Sounds crazy but five03 was started just so that we could get our hands on a new Prids record. Soon enough, Bell Hollow was kind enough to let us put out their first commercial release and the story continues with lots of cool stuff on the menu.
This is a label that is and will always be completely driven and shaped by great bands and their music and we look forward to being able to bring it to you. Goth? No one wears more black! Shimmery droning guitars? Shoegaze away! Just let me change my socks punk RAWK? Hell yeah, we've seen The Clash and Black Flag live...Alt.Country? Abso.Lutely. We're not even afraid of jazz! Okay, maybe a little afraid of jazz.
Sure we love all of THOSE bands that we grew up with and absolutely have an ear firmly planted across the pond and a decade or two back...anything wrong with that?
We don't think so either.
So...there you have it. Not really a mission statement or manifesto but those just get you into trouble. Welcome to our little corner of the web. Take a look around, give some love to the bands or better yet, buy their records. Even if you don't, thanks for stopping in and supporting independent music.

October 8, 2008 - Coming soon: a tribute record to benefit The Prids
We've called upon friends of The Prids to come together and celebrate their music by doing a tribute record to them! All proceeds from this release will go directly to The Prids to offset costs generated by their recent accident. Loads of bands including Built To Spill, A Place To Bury Strangers, The Upsidedown and more will be contributing tracks for a December release... stay tuned!
September 1, 2008 - New REMIXES EP from Bell Hollow
Bell Hollow are releasing new remixes every month til the end of the year on a new EP entitled Foxgloves Extras. Featuring remixes by Project Jenny, Project Jan, Halo33, Phofo and more!
July 25, 2008 - The Prids - Horrible accident while on tour
Our friends The Prids were in a serious accident while on tour in California on Sunday (details at theprids.com). The entire group came out alive but badly shaken and injured. They now have huge mounting hospital bills as well as the need for a new van and potentially new equipment.
A paypal account has been set up to allow anyone who can to send money to the band. If you can't help out monetarily, please repost whatever info you can into your myspace pages, blogs, etc...
five03 Records is going to be sending the latest Prids EP "Something Difficult" to everyone who donates $50 or more to the band.
There are some other plans in the works as well...
